The UK Board has unveiled the revised Class 12 Psychology syllabus for the academic year 2025-26. The syllabus is divided into seven units, each carrying a specific number of marks.
The first unit, titled 'Variations in Psychological Attributes,' carries 13 marks. This unit delves into the exploration of various psychological attributes and their variations.
Unit II, titled 'Self and Personality,' follows with 13 marks, focusing on the understanding of self and personality concepts.
Unit III, 'Meeting Life Challenges,' carries 9 marks, offering insights into coping mechanisms and strategies for overcoming life's challenges.
Unit IV, 'Psychological Disorders,' is a crucial part of the syllabus, carrying 12 marks, and provides a comprehensive overview of various psychological disorders.
Unit V, titled 'Therapeutic Approaches,' carries 9 marks, offering students a glimpse into various therapeutic approaches used in psychology.
Unit VI, 'Attitude and Social Cognition,' carries 8 marks, focusing on the role of attitudes and social cognition in shaping human behaviour.
Unit VII, 'Social Influence and Group Processes,' carries 6 marks, exploring the impact of social influence and group processes on individuals and society.
The practical component of the syllabus involves developing case profiles and administering and interpreting five psychological tests. The Practical examination requires students to administer and interpret two psychological tests. The total marks for the Practical examination are 30, split equally between the Internal and External Examiners. The Practical File and Case Profile in the Practical examination are worth 10 marks each.
The two tests in the syllabus are each worth 4 marks for conducting the tests and 8 marks for reporting. The Viva Voce (Case Profile & Two Psychological Tests) is worth 3 marks by the External Examiner, while no marks are allotted for the Viva Voce by the Internal Examiner.
The Continuous Assessment (Unit Test) is worth 5 marks, and no specific institution has published the psychology syllabus for 12th grade in the 2025-26 school year.
