23 Entrepreneurs Graduate from ADB's Skills Programme in Bangladesh
A ceremony marked the conclusion of a month-long training programme for entrepreneurs in Bangladesh's cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises sector. The event, held at PNC Bank's head office in Dhaka, saw 23 entrepreneurs receive certificates from senior officials of Bangladesh Bank and PNC Bank.
The programme, titled 'Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme', was initiated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and managed by the SME and Special Programmes Department of the Bangladesh Bank. It aimed to develop entrepreneurial and managerial skills among emerging business owners, with the goal of enhancing the sustainability of their ventures.
The training programme was hosted at BOA's premises, with expert resource persons from both Bangladesh Bank and BOA facilitating sessions. BOA's additional managing director, Syed Abdul Momen, highlighted the bank's commitment to grassroots entrepreneurship and the importance of training for small business sustainability. He was joined by Bangladesh Bank's executive director, Husne Ara Shikha, who emphasized the need for appropriate financing to translate the entrepreneurs' new skills into sustainable businesses.
The closing ceremony brought together key stakeholders in Bangladesh's entrepreneurial ecosystem. It underscored the importance of skill development and financial support for the growth and sustainability of small businesses in the country. The 23 entrepreneurs who completed the programme are now better equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the market, contributing to Bangladesh's economic development.
