IT juggernaut T1 dominates Russia's workforce, with a whopping 27,000 employees and counting. As per Ekaterina Kolesnikova, today's businesses require graduates who can dive headfirst into practical challenges right after graduation, and that's precisely what T1 offers - a taste of the real deal for students, according to her.

To make this happen, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development plays a crucial part by egging on business and academic institutions to collaborate. Kolesnikova shared that T1, in partnership with six major universities, won a competition by the Ministry to create joint bachelor's programs last year - a move that brings future specialists closer to understanding the challenges businesses face today and enabling IT companies to share vital competencies with universities.

This collaboration won't just help future pros but also caters to the high demand for additional education among students, as T1 found out with their 'IT Camp T1' and 'Open Schools T1' projects last year. The former received nearly 3,000 applications and saw approximately 130 students getting hired by T1, while the latter aided over 1,500 students and young professionals in learning in-demand IT specializations over a span of two months.

"In the ever-evolving IT world, hard skills lose their shine quickly," said Kolesnikova, "Basic knowledge, like physics, is becoming more valuable than ever in the industry, and meta-skills to quickly adapt to new roles are essential." As a response, T1 prioritizes candidates with adaptability, continuous learning abilities, critical thinking skills, and leadership qualities. While managerial roles might be on the decline, teamwork and people management skills will continue to hold significance. Kolesnikova noted that top managers at T1 have even stepped in to provide lectures on leadership development at one of their focus universities.

This movement of integrating industry needs directly into academic development, leveraging technology to streamline processes, and partnering up to bridge skills gaps is a growing trend in the Russian IT scene. While specific references to T1's activities might be scarce, these broader Russian developments offer a clear picture of the current landscape.

Large IT holdings like T1 are expected to be active players in this collaboration game, contributing by sponsoring educational programs and research labs, offering internships and work-study opportunities, and investing in ed-tech innovations to make education more efficient. Such collaborations ensure that graduates are well-equipped for the modern job market, fostering innovation, and driving technological advancement.
