Association's Capital Region Chapter Recognizes ACC CEO Veta T. Richardson with 2025 Remarkable Career Accomplishment Award

Veta T. Richardson Honoured with Outstanding Career Achievement Award

Veta T. Richardson, the President and CEO of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), has been recognised for her exceptional career achievements and significant impact on the legal profession. At the 2025 Corporate Counsel Awards Gala, held on July 16 at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA, Richardson was named the recipient of the Corporate Counsel Award – Outstanding Career Achievement.

The ACC, a premier global legal association for in-house counsel, promotes information, education, networking, and advocacy. Under Richardson's leadership, the organisation has experienced notable growth and increased influence, expanding its presence throughout Europe and launching new chapters across Asia, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, and Australia. ACC now boasts over 50,000 in-house counsel and legal operations professionals spanning 117 countries, a testament to Richardson's strategic direction.

Richardson's commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession is evident in her background. Prior to leading ACC, she served as president and executive director of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), where she laid the foundation for transformational DEI efforts across the legal profession. Her work at MCCA has been instrumental in advancing inclusion initiatives in corporate legal departments.

At ACC, Richardson led efforts to establish the Street Law partnership with ACC NCR, engaging high school students in legal literacy and education. She also awarded early grants that launched ACC NCR's Corporate Scholars Program, facilitating internships for over 200 law students.

In addition to her work with ACC and MCCA, Richardson is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and serves as a board advisor for two legal tech companies. Her book, Take Six: Essential Habits to Own Your Destiny, Overcome Challenges, and Unlock Opportunities, is an Amazon bestseller.

The Corporate Counsel Award – Outstanding Career Achievement is a prestigious honour, and Richardson expressed her gratitude for the recognition. She stated that the award is deeply meaningful because it comes from ACC members in her local region. This award is a testament to Richardson's leadership and contributions to the field, as well as her dedication to empowering underrepresented groups within the legal community.
