Barzan University College Partners with Swinburne to Disrupt Qatar's Tertiary Education
Barzan University College (BUC) is set to shake up Qatar's tertiary education scene, positioning itself as a disruptor by focusing on high-quality, industry-aligned qualifications. This move comes as Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, partners with BUC to offer its degrees in the Middle East for the first time.
The partnership, a first for an Australian university in Qatar, will launch in-demand programs including computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, business, and Swinburne's foundation program. These degrees will focus on practical, job-ready skills, aligning with Qatar's evolving economy and national development goals, such as the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Swinburne Vice-Chancellor Professor Pascale Quester sees this as a significant step in the university's global strategy. The partnership reflects growing ties between Australia and Qatar, with the Gulf state being Australia's second-largest two-way trade partner in the Middle East and North Africa region. BUC Vice Chairman Dr Hassan Al-Derham describes the collaboration as a gateway to global opportunities for Qatar's next generation.
Through this partnership, students in Qatar will now have direct access to Australian educational excellence. The programs offered will focus on providing practical skills to support Qatar's national development goals and evolving economy.
