Big Issue Invest, a UK-based social investment company, has allocated £9.3 million to 50 social purpose organisations in 2025. The company has also appointed Holger Westphely as its new managing director, marking a significant change in leadership. Meanwhile, Unity Trust Bank has appointed Martin Barrett as its new chief operating officer.

Big Issue Invest has been actively supporting UK businesses with a social mission. In 2025 alone, it allocated £9.3 million to 50 organisations, contributing to its overall investment of over £100 million since 2005. The company has also made key appointments to strengthen its leadership team. Holger Westphely, with two decades of experience in finance and social investment, has taken over as the new managing director, succeeding the previous incumbent.

In other news, Unity Trust Bank has appointed Martin Barrett as its new chief operating officer. Barrett will be responsible for enabling the bank to deliver its ambitious five-year plan to 2030. Prior to this role, Barrett held various positions at other financial institutions. Meanwhile, iGravity has appointed Susan Tirop as co-head of investments. Tirop brings over 15 years of experience in impact investing and advisory to the role. Paul de Klerk, formerly chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and chairman at AlpInvest Partners, has also been appointed to the supervisory board of ILX Management.
