In a significant development, autonomous organizations under the Ministry of Education in India, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), are currently facing a teacher shortage of over 12,000 posts. This shortage is due to various reasons such as retirement, resignation, transfers, promotion, and the opening of new schools.
KVS, which manages Kendriya Vidyalayas, central government schools aimed at providing uniform quality education primarily to children of government employees, operates over 1,200 schools across India. Established in 1963, KVS serves children of transferable Central Government employees, including those in the defense and paramilitary sectors.
On the other hand, NVS, founded in 1986, oversees Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), residential central schools focused on rural and economically disadvantaged students. NVS runs 661 residential schools, providing free education, lodging, and boarding, primarily in rural areas.
Union Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, recently shared these statistics in a written response in Rajya Sabha. To manage these vacancies, contractual teachers are appointed temporarily to ensure continued academic activities.
Candidates preparing for teaching jobs in these organizations are requested to regularly visit the official websites of KVS (kvsangathan.nic.in), NVS (navodaya.gov.in), NCERT (ncert.nic.in), and NCTE (ncte-erc.org.in). The official websites will release the detailed notification pdf containing eligibility criteria, selection process, application fees, etc.
Upon hiring, candidates will be employed on a regular or contractual basis. The vacancies in both KVS and NVS will be filled to maintain the quality of education and serve the millions of students these organizations cater to across India.
