City finds identity through arts and traditions - Cultural Year 2020
Cultural education plays a pivotal role in the lives of individuals in Germany, as per the emphasis in the 2012 Education Report. This report underscores the significance of cultural education, noting its importance in promoting personal development, fostering creativity, and encouraging cross-cultural understanding.
Our organization is dedicated to this cause, offering a multitude of activities across various artistic genres. These activities serve to bring the topic of cultural education to life through various partnerships. Each year, our organization presents an annual theme, providing a platform for actors to collaborate on projects connected to at least one other partnership. The scope of these projects encompasses artistic disciplines, inter-cultural work, cross-disciplinary projects, and initiatives promoting lifelong learning.

It is worth noting that the importance of language diversity and multilingualism is highlighted in the 2012 Education Report. Skills such as cognitive flexibility, problem-solving, and enhanced memory are associated with multilingualism, offering numerous benefits throughout an individual's life. This skillset aids in breaking cultural barriers and expanding career opportunities in a globally interconnected world.
Additionally, the report emphasizes the importance of a quality and inclusive education system. This includes implementing innovative pedagogical strategies, such as STEAM learning, AI-driven classrooms, and interactive teaching methods. These approaches foster creativity, adaptability, and meaningful engagement with diverse perspectives, essential for the 21st century. Furthermore, there is a focus on a curriculum that equips students with research skills, independent learning capabilities, and leadership, readying them for success in higher education and beyond, in reference to international education boards like IB and Cambridge programmes.
One notable and relevant project in Germany is the History of School Education Collection, a joint effort by Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and the City of Nuremberg. This collection is part of UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” and provides a valuable resource for academic research and public exhibitions that promote understanding of historical and cultural contexts. The collection offers tangible connections to history and cultural identity, enhancing cultural education by preserving and showcasing historical educational documents.
Our organization champions education-and-self-development, particularly through lifelong-learning initiatives and learning experiences across diverse artistic genres, aiming to foster creativity and promote cross-cultural understanding. In line with this, we engage in activities that encompass inter-cultural work, cross-disciplinary projects, and initiatives encouraging lifelong learning.
