In the bustling city of Pforzheim, efforts to expand kindergarten capacity continue to address the growing number of children in the area. The first round of acceptances for the kindergarten year 2024/2025 has been completed, with a total of 1,527 acceptances sent out.

The city has created almost 500 places for children over three years and 130 places for children under three years since 2017. The natural kindergarten "Wiesenblume", the kindergartens in Carl-Hölzle-Straße and Schwarzwaldstraße, and the kindergarten Schlossberghöfe will operate in the upcoming kindergarten year. Additional places will be allocated in the coming months due to the opening of new kindergartens in Schwarzwaldstraße, Carl-Hölzle-Straße, Naturkita, Kopernikusallee, Johann-Heinz-Straße, Friesenstraße, and Rabatz in Zeppelinstraße.

However, it's important to note that not all additional places will be immediately available at the start of the new kindergarten year due to staffing issues. The allocation process was completed within one month, thanks to intensive cooperation between the central registration office and all kindergarten directors. Children living in the city of Pforzheim are given priority over children from outside the city in the allocation process.

Mayor Frank Fillbrunn emphasised the importance of close coordination between the kindergarten directors, carriers, and the youth and social welfare office. He also highlighted the need for reliable follow-up care for children already in U3 care.

Staff members are available daily by phone from 8 to 12 am, and on Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm, at (07231) 39-2011. Parents can also reach the registration office via [email protected] for online or on-site consultations.

The city continues to experience an influx of children, impacting the demand for kindergarten places. The goal is to create at least 1,000 new nursery and kindergarten places in the coming years.
