In a significant move, the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein has presented an extensive declaration titled "Together. For each other. Bridging generations together." at their retreat in Rendsburg. This 20-page document, described as a "central commitment" to children, young people, families, and seniors, outlines a series of demands in family policy.

One of the key proposals in the declaration is the introduction of a mandatory kindergarten year before school for children with support needs, such as language. The CDU also calls for a review of the recent reduction in the income threshold for parental allowance, aiming to provide better support for families.

In a bid to address concerns about overweight children and young people, the Union aims to introduce a consumption tax on drinks with high sugar content. The goal of this tax is to reduce sugar consumption and promote healthier choices. However, it's important to note that the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein has not directly addressed energy drinks in their family policy demands.

The CDU in Schleswig-Holstein has also shown a commitment to ensuring that all residents have access to public transport. They have proposed the introduction of call and citizen buses for older people who no longer drive themselves. These buses, usually minibuses or cars, run on a fixed route, but only if they have been booked in advance.

Karin Prien, a prominent member of the CDU, presented the comprehensive family program of the party. The declaration on children, youth, family, and seniors is a testament to the party's commitment to bridging generations and fostering a supportive environment for all.

The CDU's proposals are not limited to family policy. They have also called for a month of "grandparent time" in parental allowance, allowing grandparents to spend more quality time with their grandchildren.

While the Union has not specifically addressed energy drinks in their policies, they have proposed that energy drinks should only be allowed for purchase from the age of 16.

These proposals mark a significant step forward in the CDU's commitment to the well-being of families, children, and seniors in Schleswig-Holstein. The party's focus on accessibility, health, and family support demonstrates their dedication to creating a better future for all.
