National Conference on Digital Dignity: Safeguarding Human Rights in the Age of Technology
The Centre for Law and Human Rights and the Centre for Law and Sciences at Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, India, are organizing a one-day National Conference on "Digital Dignity: Safeguarding Human Rights in the Age of Technology" on September 6, 2025. The conference will be held online.
The conference aims to explore the evolving interface between human rights and digital technology, with a focus on digital dignity. It invites academicians, researchers, students, professionals, and stakeholders in law and technology to participate.
Submissions for the conference should be in the form of research papers or articles, with a word limit of 3500-5000 words (excluding footnotes). The abstract, which should be around 300 words, must be accompanied by a brief profile of the author and a detailed explanation of the problem being addressed. The abstract format requires Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Line spacing 1.5, Justified with 1-inch margins on all sides and A4 paper size.
All submissions must be in MS Word format only and named according to the author's name. Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted with the submission of registration fees by both authors separately. The abstract submission deadline is August 16, 2025, and the full paper submission is August 30, 2025. Selected abstracts will be provided with a link for full paper submissions.
The conference has several sub-themes, including bridging the digital divide, combating online exploitation, addressing challenges from automation and AI, examining content moderation, preserving consumer autonomy, and ensuring ethical standards in technological advancements. The authors are required to address the theme to which their paper belongs.
The final paper shall mandatorily have the suggestions/recommendations made by the author(s). The papers are not to exceed 10% similarity under any anti-plagiarism detection software. A maximum of two authors is allowed per paper, and no fee shall be refunded if any author fails to attend the conference.
By submitting an abstract, authors grant the organizers permission to publish it in hard copy and electronic formats. Selected papers may be published in an edited book with an ISBN Number. For citation, authors are required to follow the Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 20th edition.
The conference will issue conference certificates only for participants who attend the conference online from Inaugural to Valedictory sessions. After intimation of selected abstracts, participants will have to register through a provided link and pay a conference registration fee. The registration fee for faculty and professionals is ₹1500, and for research scholars and students, it is ₹1000.
The release of the conference brochure is scheduled for July 25, 2025, and the notification of selected abstracts is on August 18, 2025. Submissions can be made via Google Forms at a provided link. The papers are to address privacy and data protection in digital spaces, algorithmic bias and discrimination in technology, surveillance, state power, and digital rights, misinformation, disinformation, and its impact on democracy, legal and policy frameworks for safeguarding digital dignity, and intersectionality and inclusivity in digital rights protection.
