Duke Energy distributes grant funds amounting to $150,000 among charitable organizations in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati regions
In a significant move to bolster workforce development for high-demand industries, Duke Energy and its Foundation recently hosted a grant ceremony at the Brighton Center in Newport. The event saw the distribution of $150,000 in grants to 14 organisations across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.
Wonda Winker, President and CEO of the Brighton Center, kicked off the ceremony with welcome remarks. Rhonda Whitaker Hurtt, Duke Energy Ohio/Kentucky Vice President of Community Relations, also spoke at the event.
Among the grant recipients were the Butler Warren County Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training, the Advanced Manufacturing Industry Partnership, Freestore Foodbank, Easterseals Redwood Tristate, Brighton Center, Talbert House, Cincinnati Works, St. Rita School for the Deaf, Chatfield College, Per Scholas, Supply Chain OKI, Groundwork Ohio River Valley, and Northern Kentucky University.
Each of these organisations is working diligently to strengthen the workforce development pipeline for industries with high demand. The grants are expected to help these organisations in their mission to prepare the workforce of tomorrow.
As of mid-August 2025, the exact recipients of the 2025 Duke Energy workforce development grants for Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati have not been made public. Notifications and awards for related programmes are expected around August to November 2025, so official recipient announcements may be forthcoming soon.
It's worth noting that the Clermont Chamber of Commerce is involved in a Duke Energy Hometown Revitalization Grant Program in 2025, supporting small businesses in the Ohio-Kentucky service area. Recipient notifications for this programme are expected by August 19, 2025.
Additionally, REDI Cincinnati announced JobsOhio Small Business Grant recipients in 2025, but these are not Duke Energy workforce development grants directly.
