Europe is experiencing a celebration in Detmold

Get ready for an exciting week of European celebrations in Detmold, as the city prepares to host the 'European Days 2025' from May 3rd to 11th. The city portal has released a comprehensive press release, making the program and contact details readily available to the public.

On May 3rd, the Karambolage youth theater will kick off the festivities with a performance of 'Emil and the Detectives' at the Leopoldinum, starting at 5 pm. The city gymnasium Detmold will follow suit with a traditional European concert at the Martin-Luther-Kirche on May 7th, at 7:30 pm.

Dr. Alessandro Bellardita will give a lecture titled 'True Crime Democracy - How our Constitution came about' on May 7th, at 7 pm in the canteen of the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Berufskolleg. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Arnd Bauerkaemper will delve into the historical significance of May 8th, 1945, with a lecture titled 'May 8th, 1945 - Consequences and Interpretations in the Two German States' on May 8th, in the small festival hall of the town hall.

The city will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its twinning with Zeitz on May 9th, 2025. A discussion with witnesses of the founding time will take place at 6 pm in the new auditorium of the Grabbe-Gymnasium. Additionally, the exhibition 'Women in Divided Germany' will be opened at the town hall on May 9th, and can be seen until May 26th.

A highlight of the week will be the official Europe celebration of the city portal, which will take place within the framework of the district festival in Heiligenkirchen on May 10th, at 5:45 pm. The popular European market will also take place at the Rosental-Galerie on May 10th, from 10 am to 1 pm.
