AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders: Comprehensive Outdoor Training Course
The AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders is a ten-day face-to-face outdoor training course designed to equip individuals with the skills to lead Forest School programmes. The course takes place at Foxburrow Nature Reserve, IP12 1NA, from 9:30am to 5:30pm each day on the following dates: 13th-17th October 2025, 11th-13th November 2025, and 24th-25th November 2025.
This course is facilitated by Forest School Association (FSA) Registered Forest School Trainers and covers Forest School programme delivery, learning and development, planning and preparation, practical woodland skills, and understanding the woodland environment.
The cost of the course is £1199, with the option to pay in instalments, but full payment must be made before the start date. The course is divided into five units: Practical Skills, Planning and Preparation, Woodland Environment, Delivery, and Learning and Development.
Participants should bring a packed lunch, cup, snacks, suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes or boots (not sandals), a camera (optional), and a reusable water bottle. Hot drinks, all required paperwork, tools, and equipment for outdoor tasks will be provided.
Assessment for the course is through a coursework portfolio, which candidates must complete within 12 months of starting the course. The portfolio is divided into 5 units, with deadlines spread over that period. The hand in dates for each unit are provided: 08.12.2025, 26.01.2026, 13.04.2026, 01.09.2026, and 01.09.2026 respectively.
The course does not allow assistance dogs except for service dogs. People with limited mobility are advised to contact the organizer in advance. The coursework will be submitted and marked through Moodle, details of which will be provided at the start of the course.

Participants must be over 21 and hold a qualification at Level 2 or above in teaching or youth work, or have significant experience of working with young people. All participants must hold a First Aid certificate before delivering Forest School. A 16-hour First Aid with an outdoor element is recommended. Participants are required to read and agree to the terms and conditions and Learner Agreement before booking.
