Future of Private Equity and Venture Capital Explored at Winpe Summit 2025, Emphasizing Diversity as Key Focus Area

The Winpe Leadership Summit and Awards 2025 took center stage last week, with a focus on addressing diversity issues within the PE-VC industry and driving measurable progress. This year's event was marked by a strong presence of global leaders, including Debbi Sutuntivorakoon, Pamela C. Fung, Ralitsa Rizvanolli, Sunil Mishra, and Thomas Kronsbein.

The summit highlighted several notable achievements. Nithya Easwaran from Multiples Alternate Asset Management was named PE Leader of the Year, while Richa Bajpai from Campus Fund was crowned VC Leader of the Year. Shweta Jalan from Advent International received a Special Acknowledgement for Leadership.

In the awards category, India Alternatives took home the Firm of the Year: Private Equity award, while Elevar Equity won the Firm of the Year: Venture Capital award. Eloelo and WaterBridge Ventures were named VC-Backed Company of the Year, and Gynoveda and India Alternatives were named PE-Backed Company of the Year.

The summit also recognised significant deals in the industry. Fireside Ventures' investment in Moxie Beauty was named Deal of the Year: Venture Capital, and Multiples Alternate Asset Management's investment in Svatantra Microfinance was named Deal of the Year: Private Equity.

Winpe, an industry forum dedicated to setting the diversity agenda and increasing the participation of women in the investing ecosystem, has garnered support from leading PE-VC firms like EQT and Bain Capital. These firms have linked with WinPE to promote greater gender diversity and inclusive investing.

However, the representation of women in the PE-VC industry and the broader corporate workforce remains a global challenge. Companies often practice diversity quietly rather than championing it publicly. Visibility, it seems, is critical to driving real change in representation.

The 2025 summit also recognised Manish Kheterpal from WaterBridge Ventures as Changemaker of the Year: Venture Capital, and Vishal Tulsyan from Motilal Oswal Alternates as Changemaker of the Year: Private Equity. These awards serve as a testament to the individuals driving change in the industry.
