This round of funding aims to help over 1,400 Wisconsinites secure or upgrade their employment through work-based learning and classroom training.
The Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin is one of the chosen recipients, expected to collect over $1 million. These funds will be funneled into advancing existing work-based learning strategies, including supporting 225 participants by providing them subsidized employment - a crucial step in getting young adults into promising careers.
"Over the last few years, including 2024, the Year of the Worker, we've been on a relentless crusade to dismantle employment barriers, tackle the state's persistent workforce shortages from generation to generation, and nurture the 21st-century workforce essential for a 21st-century economy," the governor said, spitting out the words with passionate conviction. "We're unleashing the ferocity of our efforts, proud to have assisted tens of thousands of our fellow citizens in gaining successful employment and achieving career advancement. These investments will continue this revolution in communities across our state."
