Gymnasium No. 68 in Almaty Nurtures German Talent Since 1991
Gymnasium No. 68 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, has a long-standing German department that has been nurturing young talent since 1991. The school, founded in 1976, offers German language education from the first grade up to the DSD-II exam in the eleventh grade.
The German department is well-resourced with teaching materials directly from Germany. Students can earn the German Language Diploma levels I and II (DSD I and DSD II) alongside their national school leaving certificate. Each year, the school prepares a graduating class for the DSD-II exam, with a high demand for the DSD-I exam as well.
The school's commitment to German language education was recently recognised by representatives of the German newspaper 'Allgemeine Zeitung', who visited Gymnasium No. 68 in late May. The school's students have been excelling in German for years, regularly sharing their impressions with the newspaper's editorial team.
Annabel Rosin, editor of Ifa, praised the dedication of young authors Adel Tamendarova, Sofiya Boyarskaya, Yasmina Syzdykova, and Ayazhan Syzdykova. Rosin also discussed the diverse opportunities that solid German skills can open up, including becoming a freelance correspondent for the DAZ.
Gymnasium No. 68's German department continues to foster linguistic excellence, preparing students for global opportunities. Despite the lack of information about the school's founder, its impact on German language education in Almaty is undeniable.
