Invitation for Indigenous Young Artists and Innovators in 2025
Cultural Survival, a renowned organisation dedicated to supporting indigenous peoples worldwide, has announced the Indigenous Youth Fellowship for 2025. The fellowship offers an opportunity for Indigenous youth with creative and visionary ideas to make a difference in various areas, including climate crisis preparedness, environmental protection, and indigenous rights.
The fellowship, scheduled to begin in April 2025, will last for 10 months, concluding in February 2026. The application process is now open, with the call for proposal concepts starting on November 1, 2024. Proposals should focus on one of the 13 themes provided by Cultural Survival, such as Preparedness or Response to Climate Crisis, Environmental and biodiversity protection, Indigenous Rights & Legal Mechanism Defense, and more. The proposals must be 3 - 10 months long and planned to be completed during the fellowship execution period.
The deadline for submitting proposal concepts is November 30, 2024. Detailed narrative proposals are due by December 30, 2024. The reviewing stage will take place in January 2025, followed by the awarding stage in March 2025. Selected proposal concepts will be notified by December 15, 2024, and the selected fellows will be notified in February 2025.
Fellows will work closely with Cultural Survival staff and a local mentor throughout the fellowship process. The fellowships provide up to $6,000 USD to support the projects. Applicants must be Indigenous youth who can work independently and implement their projects.
Underrepresented genders, including cis women, trans women, trans men, two-spirits, non-binary people, and those who are marginalized by their gender, are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted in multiple languages, including Spanish, English, Portuguese, Nepalese, Sunuwar, Hindi, K'iche' Maya, Kaqchikel, Poqomam, Didxazá, (Isthmus Zapotec), Ayuujk, Afrikaans, and French.
