In the Pinneberg district of Germany, local authorities have been actively enforcing speed limits, particularly near schools and kindergartens, to ensure the safety of children and other road users.

On September 9, 2025, the police conducted speed checks in the areas of Haseldorf, Tornesch, and Utersen, in response to the start of the new school year. During these checks, several speeding offenses were detected.

In Utersen, a total of 25 speeding offenses were recorded on Tornescher Weg/Esinger Weg between 7:15 AM and 08:45 AM, and 11:30 AM and 13:15 PM. Notably, a Seat car was detected driving at 52 km/h, which is 13 km/h over the speed limit.

Similarly, the Elmshorn police conducted speed checks on the main street/L 261 in Haseldorf near the local primary school. During these checks, a truck driver, a 34-year-old Syrian citizen residing in Elmshorn, was found to be speeding. His driver's license had been revoked by court order this year.

The truck driver was stopped at a control point in Haseldorf to deliver a package to a nearby address. The exact name of the driver has not been released. The offense is punishable by a fine of 180 euros and one point on the driver's license.

In another incident, a van driver was noted driving at 64 km/h in a 30 km/h zone in Utersen. This offense will result in a fine of 260 euros, two points on the driver's license, and a one-month driving ban.

Driving near schools and kindergartens poses an unnecessary risk to other road users, as children may suddenly dart into the road without looking. To address this issue, further speed checks will follow in the coming days.

The importance of adhering to speed limits, especially in areas where children are present, cannot be overstated. The speed at which a vehicle is traveling can have a significant impact on the severity of injuries and property damage in an accident. Let's all do our part to ensure the safety of our children and fellow road users.
