Upcoming Events at the Übersee Museum Bremen

The Übersee Museum Bremen is set to host a series of engaging and informative events, covering various themes and cultures. Here's a glimpse of what's in store:

November 16, 2024 - Dr. Jan-Christoph Greim will delve into the mystery surrounding an overseas box received by the museum. Stay tuned for an intriguing investigation.

January 18, 2025 - Join Rashmi Krishna for a knowledge journey titled "Chili, Cinnamon, and Pepper - On the Trail of the Spices." This interactive session is designed for children aged 6 and above. For members of the Maki Children's Club, the event is free. For non-members, the fee is 3 euros for children and 3.50 euros for adults.

The same day, from 3 to 4 pm, Dr. Volker Lohrmann will discuss the origins of amber and the fascinating discovery of wasps in 100 million-year-old amber.

February 15, 2025 - Dr. Volker Lohrmann's lecture will be followed by another, this time focusing on the life at the Neumayer Station III in Antarctica. Dr. Christine Wesche from the Alfred-Wegener-Institute will share insights about the challenges and triumphs of conducting polar research under extreme conditions.

March 15, 2025 - Artist Kati Eitzen will lead a workshop on drawing manga. This session promises to provide tips and tricks for drawing manga figures.

Lecture Schedule

The lectures take place every third Saturday of the month from 3 to 4 pm. Members of the Maki Children's Club can attend these events for free. For non-members, the entrance fee is 3 euros for children and 3.50 euros for adults.

New Exhibition

Dr. Claudia Roch, the America curator of the Übersee Museum, will explain the significance of the raven in Tlingit myths in the new cabinet exhibition. The exhibition, dedicated to the Tlingit, will feature the raven as a central mythical symbol.
