Löhne-Obernbeck Primary School receives recognition as a "Healthy School" award

In the Wittekindskreis district, schools are taking active steps to support students during stressful learning phases by implementing health-promoting measures. This year, four schools - Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck, Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, Grundschule in Westerenger, and Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule with its locations in Bünde and Kirchlengern - are being awarded for their commitment to health.

The "Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis" program, supported by the district health department, offers schools assistance in implementing health promotion and prevention activities. Renata Lleshi, an employee of the district health department, emphasized the school's engagement with the topic of health. Schools can contact the business office of the health conference or Renata Lleshi to participate in the program for the current school year.

Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist and trainer in the "link moves" program, was present for the certification event. He led students through exercises designed to improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation. At Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck, students have participated in activities related to their dental health, healthy nutrition, and social training with the help of external specialists.

Health is considered a crucial factor for successful learning, personal development, and social participation. However, not all children and young people receive the necessary tools from their families to understand its importance. Schools play a significant role in teaching children about health, and the district health department is happy to support them in this endeavor.

The program has been active for nine years and awards certificates to particularly committed schools each year. In 2025, Evangelical Elementary School Löhne-Obernbeck supported other schools in the Wittekind district as part of the program, including Grundschule Gohfeld, Grundschule Wittel, and Regenbogen Grundschule Bad Oeynhausen.

Helpful information about free individual and group offers for students and teaching staff can be found online. An overview of the contact points in Herford district that advise on "growing up healthy and teaching health" is also available online. Schools are encouraged to reach out to the district health department or Renata Lleshi to learn more about the "Healthy Schools" program and how they can participate.
