Löhne-Obernbeck Primary School recognized as a "Healthy School"
The Herford district is taking strides in promoting health and well-being among students and teaching staff, with several schools receiving the "Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis" award. The Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck was among the recipients, honoured on September 16, 2025.
The programme, supported by the district health department for nine years, aims to provide schools with resources and activities to foster health promotion and prevention. This includes lessons on dental health, healthy nutrition, and social training, among others.
Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist, played a significant role in the programme. He led students through exercises designed to improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation, particularly beneficial during stressful learning phases.
Mr. Andreas Meyer, the principal of the Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck, received the award from Renata Lleshi, an employee of the district health department and a fellow sports scientist. Schools that implement at least three health-promoting measures and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period can receive this certificate.
Other schools recognised for their commitment to health promotion include the Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, the Grundschule in Westerenger, and the Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule with its locations in Bünde and Kirchlengern.
Health is a crucial prerequisite for successful learning, personal development, and social participation. The programme offers schools support in implementing offers and activities on the topics of "health promotion and prevention."
In addition to the school-based initiatives, the article offers an overview of contact points in Herford district that advise young people, parents, and teaching staff on the topic of "growing up and teaching healthily." Schools can find information for the current school year about the "Healthy Schools" program at the business office of the Health Conference.
For schools seeking more information about the "Healthy Schools" program, they can contact project leader Renata Lleshi at 05221 13-2419 or via email at r.lleshi@ourwebsite. The "link moves" program, led by Pascal Kramer, is one such initiative that schools might find beneficial.
By fostering a health-conscious environment, schools play a crucial role in teaching children about health, setting them up for a lifetime of well-being. The "Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis" programme is a testament to this commitment and a step towards a healthier future for the district's students.
