MDPI Boosts Research Integrity with AI Image Analysis Tool

MDPI, a leading open access publisher, is set to implement Proofig AI's advanced image analysis tool across select biomedical journals. This move aims to minimise post-publication corrections and enhance the integrity of published research.

MDPI has inked a multi-year deal with Proofig AI for AI-driven proofing and integrity software. The initial rollout will focus on selected biomedical titles, with plans to expand coverage as workflows stabilise and performance metrics prove successful.

Proofig AI's tool will flag images for editorial review across common risk areas such as alteration, duplication, AI-generated images, and PubMed source plagiarism. This integration will reduce manual screening, allowing editors to concentrate more on scientific assessment.

MDPI's adoption of Proofig AI's image analysis tool is expected to bolster the integrity of published research in biomedical fields. As the rollout extends to all relevant submissions, the publisher aims to create a more robust and reliable publishing process.
