MindQuest Project Secures Grant to Boost Mental Health Support in Children
Creative Active Lives CIC, a local charity, has secured a significant grant from the West Cheshire Innovation Trust (WCIT) Charity. The funding will be used to develop MindQuest, an innovative Minecraft Education world designed to support mental health and wellbeing, particularly for neurodivergent and traumatized children.
The project is being led by Rachel Conlisk, the Director of Creative Active Lives CIC, and her daughter, who is studying computer science. They are working alongside Minecraft education consultant Dan Noble and Ellie Finch, founder of PlayMode Academy, to bring MindQuest to life.
MindQuest aims to integrate wellbeing questionnaires into the Minecraft environment. This unique approach allows children to engage with mental health support in a fun and interactive way. The project was initially conceived in the West Midlands, following a grant from the Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations Vision 2030 Fund for Minecraft Education sessions. It has since gained recognition, with Rachel Conlisk submitting it for the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026.
With the WCIT Charity grant, MindQuest is set to become a valuable resource for supporting child mental health and wellbeing. The project's innovative use of Minecraft Education is expected to make a positive impact on neurodivergent and traumatized children, providing them with an engaging and effective way to access mental health support.
