Münster and Mühlhausen Celebrate German Unity Day 2025: 'Future through Change'

Münster's Lord Mayor Markus Lewe and representatives are in Mühlhausen to celebrate German Unity Day 2025. The event, themed 'Future through Change', reflects on the official celebrations and the 35-year partnership between the two cities. The celebration, held alternately in Mühlhausen or Münster since 2015, brings together representatives from both cities. Mühlhausen's Lord Mayor Dr. Johannes Bruns warmly welcomed his counterpart from Münster.

Students from Mühlhausen will present a project titled 'November 9th, 1989 - A Day of Freedom?!', delving into the historic events that led to German reunification. An exhibition focusing on the SED dictatorship is also on display, offering insights into the past.

Claudia Welp and Doreen Hillmann will moderate a dialogue centered around women's experiences in divided Germany, providing a unique perspective on the country's history.

The event commemorates the 35-year partnership between Münster and Mühlhausen, fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
