Nationwide registration centers witness the initiation of UTME-to-Direct Entry conversions for 2025 candidates by JAMB.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new initiative that will allow UTME candidates with higher qualifications to convert their registrations to Direct Entry (DE) for the 2025 academic year.

This conversion service, announced on JAMB's official X handle on Wednesday, August 7, 2025, is aimed at candidates who originally applied through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but later obtained higher qualifications like a diploma, NCE, or equivalent.

Eligible candidates can skip the first year (100 level) and begin from 200 level in participating institutions through this conversion. To be considered, candidates must have passed the UTME, meet the minimum JAMB cut-off mark, possess relevant O'Level credits for the intended course, and apply for Direct Entry through JAMB.

Candidates interested in this opportunity should take note of the UTME to DE conversion, as stated by the board. The conversion process is intended for UTME candidates who have obtained higher qualifications suitable for Direct Entry (DE) admission.

The conversion service is available at all JAMB's Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) across Nigeria. This means that eligible candidates can access the service nationwide, making it more convenient for all.

Direct Entry applicants typically begin from 200 level instead of 100 level in most universities, making the conversion a strategic option for qualified candidates. By taking advantage of this service, candidates can save a year of their academic journey and progress more quickly towards their degrees.

In conclusion, the UTME to DE conversion announced by JAMB is a significant step towards providing more opportunities for qualified candidates to further their education. Candidates who meet the requirements are encouraged to take advantage of this service and apply for Direct Entry admission into Nigerian universities.
