NCGSummer Concert presents a diverse music lineup, transitioning from band performances to solo acts

The summer concert at Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium, held on June 26 and 27 in sports hall 1, was a resounding success, with over 200 students and staff members showcasing their talents. Lena Bornkessel and Aurora Stauffer from Q2 expertly moderated the evening, guiding the audience through a diverse and colourful programme.

The event commenced with the symphonic wind orchestra performing "Appalachian Overture", setting the tone for an evening filled with melodious tunes. A first for the school, the 5th and 6th grade wind ensembles joined forces, delivering a harmonious performance that captivated the audience.

Zisan Düzgün (8) received applause for her rendition of "All of Me" with the Big Band, while Helena Bokeloh (5c) was met with great acclaim for her performance of "Satellite". Sude Bayar (10c) delivered one of the concert's highlights with her performance of "Feeling Good". Annika Gohrbandt (EF) concluded the solo performances with her self-written poetry slam "Somewhere Sometime Somehow".

For the first time this year, the Big Band was accompanied by singing, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the performances. The band "Shut Up" performed "Beggin" and "Fallin", injecting a lively energy into the concert. Candy was distributed to the audience to start the performance with a burst of enthusiasm.

The joint performance of "Viva la vida" was particularly noteworthy, with Johanna Kölle (5c) performing the piano piece and a choir singing. The Brodka brothers and the band "Jaegers Jünger" also took to the stage, performing "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Gigantic", respectively.

The colorful light effects from the tech team enhanced the joyful atmosphere during the performances, creating a memorable experience for all. A 20-minute break allowed for cake and drink sales by Q2 and conversations about the concert.

Audience members could provide feedback using colored cards, with the diversity and colourful mix of the program being particularly praised. The concert concluded with the Big Band bidding farewell to the audience with "Flashpoint".

Whilst there is no specific annual summer concert tradition called "Musik im Cusanus spezial" or any similarly named event directly at the Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium in Bonn, the event remains a highlight of the school's calendar, bringing together different musical genres and showcasing the talents of its students. Special thanks were given to the tech team for their hard work in setting up the sports hall and guiding the evenings.

The evening started with the symphonic wind orchestra playing "Appalachian Overture", setting the tone for a colorful and enjoyable education-and-self-development event. During the concert, Zisan Düzgün (8), Helena Bokeloh (5c), Sude Bayar (10c), and Annika Gohrbandt (EF) showcased their talents in music performances, while the Big Band and guest bands such as "Shut Up", Brodka brothers, and "Jaegers Jünger" added entertainment to the program with their performances.
