New Warden of Cranmer Hall Announced

Professor Jolyon Mitchell, the incoming Principal of St John's College, has celebrated the appointment of Revd Dr Nick Moore as the new Warden of Cranmer Hall.

Nick Moore, a distinguished figure in theological scholarship and church ministry, will take up his role at the start of the Michaelmas term. He succeeds the Revd Canon Dr Philip Plyming.

Moore, a native of the North East of England, attended Durham Johnston Comprehensive School before studying French and Philosophy at university. His passion for theology led him to ministry roles and further study, culminating in his training for ordained ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and the completion of a DPhil in Theology.

Moore has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to both theological scholarship and the life and ministry of churches and communities, not just in the UK but internationally. He has lived in Cuba and Paris and has served on church staff teams in Buckinghamshire and Hartlepool.

Cranmer Hall, unique in being a theological college embedded within a college of a world-class university, delivers three academic programs: a BA in Theology, Ministry, and Mission, an MA in Theology and Ministry, and the professional Doctorate in Theology and Ministry. The Hall offers training to leaders across many non-Anglican traditions and for Baptist ministers-in-training.

Revd Steve Muneza, Director of Formation and Mixed Mode Training, looks forward to working with Moore on building and strengthening partnerships. Moore currently serves as Academic Dean at Cranmer Hall.

Alumni of Cranmer Hall include Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop Libby Lane, and the late Bishop Francis Loyo of Rokon, South Sudan.
