Non-migrant children allowed language test only at Gymnasium No 140 for migrant children.

New Article:

A single school in Omsk, Siberia, Russia, has been granted the authority to test migrant children on their knowledge of the Russian language for school admission.

According to the Russian Ministry of Education's latest announcement, the sole educational institution in Omsk slated to conduct these tests is the BOU "Gymnasium No 140," located on Dmitrieva Street in the Kirovsky Administrative District.

Established in 1990 as a spin-off of a general education school, the Gymnasium No 140 boasts a series of victories in scholastic competitions since the mid-2000s. As of September 2018, Oxana Pazynych serves as the school's director.

It's worth mentioning that a law mandating the mandatory testing of migrant children’s Russian language proficiency for school admission (regardless of class level) was enacted on April 1, 2025, affecting all regions across the country. Both written and oral forms of the test are supported. Falling short of the requisite score will necessitate a retest after three months. According to SuperOmsk, Omsk is one of 16 regions where testing can only be conducted at a single school.
