A Keen Leap for the Innovative Agro-Food Institute

The demolition of the rundown Atap warehouse on Macallè Avenue heralds a new era for Turin's tech-focused agro-food institute. The Province has announced a tender to pave the way for this modern, cutting-edge educational hub, estimated to cost a hefty 15 million euros.

With the decade-long project appearing to have reached its conclusion, Province President Emanuele Ramella Pralungo shares an optimistic outlook: "We're gearing up to publish the notice of interest in the coming days, with a 30-day window for interested parties to express their interest. Construction work will officially commence by July."

The institute's revitalization is made possible through joint funding by INAIL, the government, and the Province. Ramella Pralungo added, "We've secured funds in the Provincial Council for the demolition of the old bus depot, amounting to approximately one million euros."

Once the Atap buses' former stomping ground, this corner of asphalt in front of the Rivetti pool will soon witness the erection of a tech-savvy facility destined to transform Turin's textile industry.

The roots of this ambitious project can be traced back to 2015, when it emerged as the frontrunner in then-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's competition. Despite facing hurdles like metropolitan appeals, pandemic-induced delays, increased construction costs, and rising prices, the project persevered.

Upon its completion, the institute will serve as the home to the Technical Institute for Agriculture, Agro-Food, Agro-Industry, and the Professional Institute for Services in Enogastronomy and Tourism Hospitality. This sustainability-driven complex will feature cutting-edge amenities such as:

  • 27 classrooms for teaching purposes
  • 14 lab spaces for practical learning, enhancement, and crossover activities
  • A gym
  • A 150-seat auditorium
  • Multifunctional spaces for integrated learning

Such an innovative hub will cultivate the next generation of agricultural technicians and culinary whiz-kids, providing them an opportunity to put their learnings into practice by transforming products grown on site into gastronomic delights. Let the transformation begin!

The innovative agro-food institute's revitalization will extend to online education and self-development, with the planned inclusion of virtual learning resources and platforms.

Upon its completion, the institute will also offer online education programs, allowing individuals from diverse geographic locations to access education-and-self-development opportunities in the agro-food industry.
