Online Education Transformation: Embracing Creativity in Digital Classrooms
In a recent webinar hosted by Supreeth Nagaraju, Dr. Jitin Chadha, Director of an unspecified institution in New Delhi, shared insights on the challenges faced by students, teachers, and educational institutions during the past year and the future of education. The webinar, titled 'Essential Education', also featured panelists Anant Chakradeo, Hrridaysh Deshpande, Sabu Thomas, Malini V Shankar, and Dr. Jitin Chadha.
Dr. Chadha began by discussing the paradigm shift from physical to virtual classrooms, upscaling tech specification, developing new strategies and processes, and the need for digital literacy. He highlighted that the education system worldwide had to shift from traditional teaching methods to an online teaching model due to the pandemic.
To meet modern demands of educating during a pandemic, Dr. Chadha spoke about his institution's efforts to upskill itself. He mentioned that the institute implemented a plan of technology outlay over the next five years in the last nine months. To achieve this, the institute utilised a training development tool provided by Kingston University for faculty upskilling. Kingston University was upskilling its faculty, which our institution leveraged to upskill its own faculty.
The panel discussion addressed changes in education systems and learning due to the pandemic. Dr. Chadha noted that the pandemic presented an opportunity to upskill themselves and address a wider audience outside the walls of their campus. He also discussed the challenge of changing faculty mindsets and academic delivery for online teaching.
The way forward emphasised the use of technology in a hybrid model of education to meet the teaching-learning requirements of students. Dr. Chadha proposed a hybrid model that could involve offline teaching for three months followed by online teaching for an undetermined duration. He emphasised that the idea of education moving forward is not solely online or offline, but a hybrid model that could switch between the two as needed.
The webinar concluded with a discussion on the need for collaboration between institutions to address the impact of the pandemic on education and develop strategies for related challenges. Dr. Chadha collaborated with institutions such as Essential Education and worked alongside Anant Chakradeo, Hrridaysh Deshpande, Sabu Thomas, and Malini V Shankar during the webinar.
The 'Essential Education' webinar was a significant event that brought together education leaders to discuss the challenges and solutions for the future of education in the wake of the pandemic. Dr. Jitin Chadha's insights and contributions to the discussion underscored the importance of adapting to new teaching methods, leveraging technology, and collaborating with other institutions to ensure the continued success of education during challenging times.
