Photography Session Guided by Canon's Expert Mentor, Ravi Dhingra
Two-Day Photography Workshop Enriches Students' Skills
Last week, our institution hosted a two-day photography workshop led by Ravi Dhingra, a renowned Canon Photo Mentor and Lifestyle and Commercial Photographer. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to apply the concepts of light, shadows, and colours in their photography.
During the workshop, students gained practical, hands-on experience with DSLR cameras. They were encouraged to experiment with different lights and take pictures to better understand the nuances and technicalities of photography. This hands-on approach allowed them to improve their understanding of the art of photography.
The workshop covered various aspects that need to be kept in mind while taking a photograph. Mr. Dhingra discussed the role of shadows in adding volume and dimension to a photograph. He also highlighted the importance of light sources, lighting types, and techniques. Back light was used for creating silhouettes, white light was used for general illumination, and warm light aided in creating a specific mood or ambience.
Moreover, the workshop focused on teaching the basics of photography. Mr. Dhingra explained the interplay of light and shadow, and how it can transform an ordinary photograph into one with a distinct personality. He also emphasized the value of the absence of colours as a method to disrupt monotony and assert individuality.
The workshop offered a comprehensive learning experience, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students were able to discuss various aspects of photography and apply the theoretical knowledge they gained during the workshop. They also learned how to use reflectors and light modifiers to create appropriate atmospheres and environments.
Each image taken during the workshop had a narrative behind it, which was unveiled during the workshop. The students were able to understand the thought and detail that goes into the composition of a photograph. The workshop provided a platform for students to explore and experiment with various lighting techniques in a practical setting.
In conclusion, the photography workshop with Ravi Dhingra was a valuable learning experience for our students. It not only enhanced their practical skills but also broadened their understanding of the art of photography. We look forward to hosting more such workshops in the future.
