Blockades of Educational Institutions Across France

A wave of protests and blockades has swept across several cities in France, affecting numerous educational institutions. According to reports from The Figaro newspaper, blockades have been reported in Saint-Brieuc, Marseille, Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Chambéry, and Alençon.

In Paris, at least 13 high schools have had their entrances blocked by students since morning, with some requiring the intervention of law enforcement. The events were marked by protests where protesters chanted slogans in support of Palestine and anarchist calls.

Similarly, in Lyon, eight middle and high schools have had their entrances blocked by students, and protesters attempted to block the entrance to one of the buildings of the University of Lyon. However, the police were able to prevent this from happening.

In Bordeaux, students have blocked the entrances to two high schools, and the protests in the city are taking place mainly in a peaceful manner, as reported by the local Sud Ouest newspaper.

The events are being covered by various media outlets, including RIA Novosti and Lyon Capitale magazine, which reported that protesters in Lyon attempted to block the entrance to one of the buildings of the University of Lyon.

These blockades in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lille, Alençon, Chambéry, and Saint-Brieuc were organized and supported primarily by a broad coalition of unions and students as part of nationwide protests and strikes against government budget cuts affecting education and public services. Students have actively blocked universities and schools, while unions have called for general strikes.

According to BFMTV channel, in total, students have blocked the entrances to 75 schools across the country. The protests and blockades are expected to continue as the nationwide movement against the government's budget cuts continues.
