Dormagen, Germany - The State Association of Adult Education Centres NRW, VHS Dormagen, and the municipal department of Integration and Social Affairs have joined forces to offer a comprehensive first orientation and German course for refugees and newcomers in the city.

The course, which takes place at the Christoph-Rensing-School in Dormagen, is led by Dennis Komainda, a competent teacher familiar with the local area. His expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the successful integration of participants.

The four-day-a-week course, running from Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 to 12:45, is open to people who are not yet entitled to attend an integration course. It aims to provide basic information about life in Germany and teach initial German skills.

Dr. Torsten Spillmann, Deputy Mayor of Dormagen's city administration, is pleased to have VHS Dormagen as a partner for this initiative. He emphasises the purpose of the course: "To create a low-threshold access to language and orientation on-site."

The course consists of 300 lessons of 45 minutes each, divided into six modules. These modules cover a wide range of topics, including daily life, work, shopping, health, housing, school, media, mobility, customs and traditions, and values and coexistence.

Niklas Christen, from the State Association of Adult Education Centres of NRW e.V., believes this partnership contributes to comprehensive coverage. He is particularly pleased to have VHS Dormagen as a partner for the first orientation course in NRW.

The first orientation and German course for refugees in Dormagen is scheduled to run from August 25 to January 22. The course is based on the "First Orientation and German Learning" concept of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

Dr. Spillmann aims to help refugees and newcomers quickly gain security in daily life with the course, and hopes it will strengthen participants and improve coexistence in the city.

This joint project is a significant step towards integrating refugees and newcomers into the local community, providing them with the essential knowledge and skills they need to navigate life in Germany.
