Registration for the Year 2025

Enrolling in college is an exciting yet potentially daunting process. To help you navigate through this journey, we've broken down the key steps and required documents for a typical college enrolment process.

1. Application Submission

Your journey begins by submitting an application to the college. This can be done through the college's own system or via a common application platform. Upon applying, you will usually receive a student ID, username, and temporary password for accessing the student portal or enrollment system.

2. Account Activation

After application, activate your student portal/account (e.g., myVPCC) where you can register for classes, access financial aid information, and receive important updates.

3. Financial Planning and Aid

Complete the FAFSA to apply for federal, state, or institutional financial aid. Some colleges may also require a scholarship application and have provisions for military/veterans benefits.

4. Enrollment Deposit and Confirmation

Many colleges require you to pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit by a set deadline to reserve your place. Once paid, you receive confirmation along with your student ID number or related credentials.

5. Placement Exams and Course Registration

You might have to take placement exams (e.g., in math) before you can register for courses.

6. Additional Documentation

Required documents often include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Official transcripts from previous education.
  • SAT/ACT scores if required by the college (some are test-optional).
  • Proof of residency or citizenship.
  • Identification documents (e.g., passport or driver's license).
  • Immunization records (sometimes mandatory).

You should check the specific college’s admissions page for exact document lists.

7. Appointments or Advising Sessions

Some colleges ask you to meet with enrollment advisors, particularly if using veteran benefits or to finalize financial aid and course selection plans.

Enrolment Appointments

Enrolment appointments contain information about course selection, administrative tasks, and grade checks. Bring your ID, completed enrolment forms (if applicable), original exam results slip, evidence of all exam grades achieved in Year 10 & 11, a pen, and £25 voluntary contribution for college enrichment opportunities to your appointment. Payment for the voluntary contribution can be made by card or cash at the enrolment appointment.

For British and Irish Citizens, bring a passport and a photocopy of passport, or birth/ adoption certificate if no passport. For non-British passport holders, proof of eligibility to study in the UK is required.

If the enrolment letter is not received by the end of July, contact the Admissions Team at [email protected].

Enrichment Activities

Please note that enrichment activities are not funded by the government. The voluntary contribution of £25 goes to the College Fund for subsidizing various activities and local diocese support.
