Report Release on National Conditions: Artistic Professions and British Industries Amid Migration

June 10, 2025 | 12-1pm (BST) | Online Event

Join us for the launch of Creative PEC's latest report, 'Migration in UK Creative Occupations and Industries'. This comprehensive study, authored by our research partners at Newcastle University, delves into UK visa data and creative occupations, aiming to provide much-needed insights into immigrant populations within the creative industries.

The report sheds light on spatial trends and growth patterns in the geographical distribution of visa holders and their origins. Key findings will be discussed at an online event, which includes an introduction to the research, panel discussions featuring industry experts, and a question-and-answer session with the research team. Notable speakers include Dr. Sara Maioli, Dr. Daniel Simandjuntak, Dr. Jonathan Jones, and Professor Giorgio Fazio.

Meet the speakers:

  • Dr. Madeleine Sumption MBE, Director of The Migration Observatory, University of Oxford, will provide expert commentary and opinions on the research report. Her areas of expertise include the design of immigration policies, migrant labor, and the impact of Brexit on the UK's immigration system.
  • Marta Foresti, Chair of Global Creative Economy Council and CEO of LAGO Collective, brings her wealth of knowledge on migration, culture, and the arts to the guest panel. Previously, Marta served as Managing and Executive Director at ODI, where she led the expansion of their migration and governance work.
  • Dr. Sara Maioli, Reader in Economics at Newcastle University Business School, is one of the report authors. Her research interests include international economics, trade, labor, and international business, with a focus on applying micro-econometrics techniques to SMEs and the creative industries.
