Rwanda Launches Solar-Powered DigiTruck to Train 5,000 in Digital Skills
Rwanda has launched an innovative project to boost digital skills nationwide, partnering with China's Huawei Technologies. The DigiTruck, a solar-powered mobile classroom, was inaugurated at Kagarama Secondary School in Kicukiro, marking the start of a three-year journey to train over 5,000 youth, girls, and farmers across all 30 districts.
The DigiTruck, equipped with laptops and modern learning tools, will provide free digital skills training. This initiative is part of Rwanda's Smart Education Project, which aims to equip one million citizens with digital skills by 2024. Phase I of the project has already been successfully completed.
The DigiTruck project aims to improve education, enhance digital literacy, and ensure equitable access to learning opportunities. It aligns with Rwanda's vision to become a knowledge-based economy, preparing its workforce for the digital age.
The DigiTruck, a collaboration between the Rwandan government and Huawei Technologies, has begun its mission to empower over 5,000 Rwandans with digital skills. This project is a significant step towards Rwanda's goal of digitally literate citizens and a robust digital economy.
