Sisense Data Breach Affects Millions of Credentials, CISA Investigating

Business intelligence company Sisense has informed customers of a potential data breach, affecting millions of access tokens, email account passwords, and SSL certificates. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is currently investigating the incident.

Sisense's Chief Information Security Officer, Sangram Dash, notified customers on April 10, 2024. The company has over a thousand customers across various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, and higher education. Affected customers must reset a wide range of credentials and tokens, including Sisense-related passwords, GIT credentials, web access tokens, and single sign-on (SSO) secrets or tokens. CISA is collaborating with private industry partners to respond to the incident, particularly for impacted critical infrastructure sector organizations.

The breach may have involved access to Sisense's Gitlab code repository and Amazon S3 buckets in the cloud. Sisense's CISO sent an update to customers with detailed instructions on resetting various credentials and tokens. However, the identities of the experts involved in Sisense's investigation of the data loss have not been publicly disclosed. Sisense declined to comment on the breach when asked about the veracity of information from trusted sources.

Sisense customers are urged to reset their credentials and secrets shared with the company. The investigation into the breach is ongoing, with CISA working alongside Sisense and other industry partners to mitigate potential impacts.
