Studio's Impressive Grades Unveiled
Florida Atlantic University and BrandStar Partner to Revolutionize Media and Entertainment Education
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and BrandStar, a digital marketing and video production company based in Deerfield Beach, Florida, have joined forces to create a cutting-edge virtual production studio at FAU. The partnership aims to develop the next generation of media and entertainment professionals using advanced filmmaking techniques.
While there is no publicly available detailed information specifically describing this partnership, sources indicate that BrandStar has built its own LED Volume Wall for virtual production and donated it to FAU. The company's motivation for the donation is rooted in community and talent development, with the goal of keeping production talent in Florida and developing its own pipeline of employees.
BrandStar Studios @ Florida Atlantic offers courses in animation, gaming, film, and media, with potential expansion to other departments such as sports broadcasting and theater. The studio features an LED Volume Wall custom-manufactured and integrated with necessary support technology, and it also uses ICVFX systems driven by Unreal Engine 3D graphics and gaming software.
The virtual production technology employed by BrandStar integrates real-time visual effects and digital environments, a natural fit for media and entertainment education. This technology allows for post-production team members to make adjustments while shooting, creating a more collaborative environment between production and post-production.
BrandStar has partnered with Mo-Sys, a virtual production technology developer from London, for in-camera motion tracking. This partnership enables the technology to connect physical cameras with virtual cameras in Unreal Engine for mixed reality sets. Real scenic elements or props can also be accommodated by the technology.
The studio, located at FAU's School of Communication & Multimedia Studies in Boca Raton, FL, opened its doors in March 2023. In addition to providing state-of-the-art facilities for education, BrandStar is also offering advisory and training services, as well as internship and mentorship opportunities to FAU staff, faculty, and students.
This public/private partnership is of interest to universities, especially state universities, for resource provision on limited state budgets. BrandStar, as an integrated production and strategic marketing company, has a roster of offerings similar to a full-service advertising agency, with partnerships with Lifetime and clients like Amazon, Ford, Google, The Home Depot, Toyota, Walmart, and many others.
As the media and entertainment industry continues to evolve, partnerships like the one between FAU and BrandStar are crucial for providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the field. For precise and updated information, contacting FAU’s media/entertainment departments or BrandStar directly would be recommended.
