Summer camp at Enzweiler Building Institute provides practical learning to 41 high school students from the local area.

The Enzweiler Building Institute (EBI) hosted its annual Summer Camp for Youth from June 23-25, 2025, at their Erlanger campus. The three-day event provided 41 high school students with a hands-on experience in various skilled trades, including carpentry, welding, plumbing, and electrical.

This year's camp was made possible through a partnership with NaviGo Scholars, a regional workforce readiness initiative that helps connect students with educational and career opportunities. The camp aimed to introduce students to careers they might not otherwise consider, as stated by Diane McConnell, Director of Workforce Development for the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky.

Students gained real-world exposure to each trade with the guidance of experienced instructors and local industry professionals. In addition to technical skills, they also learned about teamwork, problem-solving, and the opportunities in the high-demand trades industry. Many students expressed enthusiasm about returning for more training at the EBI Summer Camp.

Parents praised the EBI Summer Camp for its structure, quality, and impact. The camp provided students with a unique opportunity to explore various trades and gain practical skills that could help them in their future careers.

While explicit application details for the 2025 camp are not provided, the camp operates in partnership with NaviGo Scholars. For more information on future Summer Camps, workshops, and application procedures, it is advisable to contact the Enzweiler Building Institute directly or visit their official website.

In addition to the youth Summer Camp, the Enzweiler Building Institute offers various summer certification workshops for adults over 18. These workshops include Skid Steer (July 25, 2025), Rough Terrain Forklift (August 14, 2025), and Compact Excavator (August 22, 2025), each including classroom and hands-on sessions at their Erlanger campus. The application or registration process for these certification classes requires payment of a $150 fee at registration and is open to anyone over 18 years of age.

The EBI's facilities have also received a boost, with a $37,000 grant from the Truist Foundation. This grant will support the expansion of capacity and improved hands-on learning environments for future programs at the Institute.

The EBI Summer Camp continues to be a key initiative in addressing the skilled labor shortage in the Northern Kentucky region, providing young students with the opportunity to explore careers in high-demand trades and gain the practical skills needed to succeed in these fields.
