The European Commission starts a fresh endeavor to boost the adoption of the internet within the European Union.
On September 3, 2025, a group of 10 students from middle and secondary schools in Landshut's district embarked on a career orientation program called "Job Tour." Organised by Angela Schedlbauer of the Economic Development of Landshut's district, the programme aimed to provide students with valuable insights into various industries.
The students, who were from the 8th and 9th grades, spent their first week of summer holidays visiting local businesses. One of these was SPIE SAG in Ergolding, where they gained insights into electrical installations and soldering processes. At Feistl Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology GmbH & Co. KG, they learned about the company's business areas and history, and even participated in a workshop on "Component Assembly."
The students were also given the opportunity to visit Ergomar in Ergolding, where they were introduced to pool water technology and sauna technology. They were able to tour all departments at Ergomar, including building technology, reception, administration, and catering.
At Schott AG in Landshut, the students learned about glass production, and even got hands-on experience with coating metallic workpieces by galvanic gold plating. They also learned how to stick and solder an LED cube. The manufacture of a housing for the LED cube was demonstrated to them, involving processes such as 3D printing, milling, drilling, countersinking, cutting threads, milling, stamping, and working with stainless steel plates.
The programme concluded with a construction site visit, giving the students a real-world perspective of the industries they had been learning about. A rescue exercise involving the students was practiced at Ergomar, providing them with a unique and memorable experience.
Throughout the "Job Tour," the students tried out various materials, tools, and techniques at the businesses they visited. The programme not only provided them with valuable career insights, but also gave them a taste of the practical skills required in various industries.
