In Baden-Württemberg, a new popular petition is gaining traction, aiming to enhance the planned G9 educational system. The initiative, named "Initiative G9 Now!", seeks to provide students from ongoing G8 classes the opportunity to switch to an extended G9 variant.

The petitioners, supported by economic associations focusing on Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics (IMP), believe this change would offer a better timetable for teachers and students, more time for learning, and room for extracurricular activities.

One of the key proposals is to delay the start of the second foreign language until grade 7. This change aligns with the G9 model schools in Baden-Württemberg, which boasts three stretching models, one of which is the middle school stretching model.

Despite gathering about a third of the required signatures, the petitioners have seen little progress in the last two weeks. They plan to focus their efforts on public spaces for signature collection.

It's important to note that this petition is separate from the previous one initiated by the two founders who have stepped back. The contact for the new petition is Christoph Müller, who can be reached at c.mueller@ourwebsite.

Interestingly, Lower Saxony has already made the switch to grade eight. Schools in Baden-Württemberg that have already implemented the G9 model have reported up to 100% support for the four-year high school system.

The petition does not require any additional financial resources. Moreover, it has the backing of almost all teacher associations.

However, it's worth mentioning that the G9 model in Baden-Württemberg requires more effort than the G9plus model of the state government. The right to G8 remains, but it is expected that not as many students in higher classes will want to switch to G9.

For those seeking details on the general status of the G9 reform or any citizen direct-democracy initiatives impacting education in Baden-Württemberg, it might be necessary to consult local government or educational authority releases or news beyond the provided data.

  1. The "Initiative G9 Now!" petition, supported by economic associations such as IMP, is not only focusing on education-and-self-development by advocating for the G9 educational system in Baden-Württemberg, but also politics, as they plan to collect signatures in public spaces to gain more support.
  2. Apart from education-and-self-development and politics, this petition also attracts attention in the general-news sphere, with Lower Saxony having already made the switch to a grade eight system and some schools in Baden-Württemberg reporting up to 100% support for the four-year high school system in the G9 model.
