Toxic Masculinity Workshop: Men Urged to Challenge Gender Norms
A workshop on 'Toxic Masculinity' took place at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen on September 26, 2025. Led by Mathias Gathof and Jana Müller, the event saw 16 participants delve into gender roles, power structures, and strategies for equality. Regina Hunschock, the centre's director, plans to continue these discussions with new offers.
The workshop identified key steps for change, including openness, confronting one's own gender roles, and showing care. Men were encouraged to take an active role in overcoming entrenched gender patterns. Women shared numerous strategies against sexual harassment, while men's strategies were not discussed during the event. Practical exercises explored how societal norms influence coexistence. The name of the person planning the continuation and deepening of this topic is not provided.
The 'Toxic Masculinity' workshop at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen highlighted the need for men to engage actively in challenging gender norms. With Regina Hunschock's plans to continue these discussions, the centre aims to foster greater understanding and equality.
