Tulsa County COVID-19 Vaccinations Progress: 15.5% of Adults, 50.5% of Seniors, School Staff Next
Tulsa County residents are seeing progress in COVID-19 vaccinations. As of February 19th, 15.5% of those aged 16 and over, and 50.5% of those aged 65 and over, have received at least one dose. Meanwhile, school staff vaccinations are set to begin on February 24th.
The Tulsa Health Department (THD) is administering vaccines at the River Spirit Expo, with specific appointment times and procedures. The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has expanded Phase 2 to include teachers, staff in Pre-K-12 schools, and Oklahomans with comorbidities aged 16 and over.
Over 8,000 appointments were rescheduled due to weather disruptions, with make-up dates announced. The goal is to vaccinate all eligible staff in Tulsa County before the end of March. This includes approximately 89,000 teachers and staff, and over 1 million Oklahomans with conditions like hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, among others. Saint Francis Health System, Passport Health, and Total Wellness are vaccinating pre-K-12 school staff. The Oklahoma Vaccine Portal and pandemic partners are assisting in administering vaccines to eligible groups. The THD continues to offer COVID-19 testing by appointment only.
Tulsa County's vaccination efforts are underway, with a focus on school staff and those with comorbidities. The THD and OSDH are working together to ensure all eligible residents receive their vaccinations. The goal is to vaccinate all eligible staff in Tulsa County by the end of March.
