Two Venezuelan Immigrants Launch U.S. Banking Careers via UnidosUS's Latinos in Finance
Two immigrants from Venezuela, Daniela Ramos and Juan Pablo DaCosta, have launched successful careers in the U.S. banking industry thanks to UnidosUS's Latinos in Finance initiative. The programme, supported by major banks like Bank of America and non-profits, aims to embed culturally and linguistically proficient team members in communities across the U.S.
Daniela and Juan Pablo were recruited by JPMorgan Chase for the Latinos in Finance programme in 2024. The course, generously supported by Bank of America and taught by Catholic Charities of Tennessee in Nashville, covered the ins and outs of the commercial banking field. It included interview preparation with valuable feedback from banking partners.
Both Daniela and Juan Pablo faced real-life challenges in their work, such as language barriers and the digital divide. However, they consistently went above and beyond to assist their clients. Their bilingual abilities, particularly Juan Pablo's experience in the financial industry in Venezuela, proved invaluable to Bank of America. After completing the course, both were hired by the same institution, demonstrating the programme's success in launching participants into lifelong career pathways.
The Latinos in Finance initiative, with support from major banks and non-profits, is helping to diversify the banking industry and promote financial literacy in communities across the U.S. Daniela and Juan Pablo, now thriving in their roles at Bank of America, are prime examples of the programme's impact. They not only excel in their professional lives but also aim to educate their communities about banking services, fostering a more inclusive financial landscape.
