University of Göttingen Launches 'Showing Attitude' Event Series to Combat Workplace Discrimination
The University of Göttingen, the city, and the county invite all employees, students, and the public to attend the 'Showing Attitude' event series. This series aims to equip participants with the skills to tackle discrimination and anti-democratic tendencies in the workplace. The event kicks off on September 8, 2025, at the New Town Hall, with registration closing on September 5, 2025.
The event series is held in honour of the 13th national Diversity Day. It begins with a central public kick-off event, followed by three in-depth workshops specifically designed for employees of the participating institutions. These workshops will focus on learning how to react to discrimination and anti-democratic tendencies in the workplace.
The Charta der Vielfalt, signed by the city, county, and University of Göttingen, commits to respecting and valuing all people regardless of age, gender, origin, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. Over 6,500 companies and institutions, including universities, cities, and corporations, have signed this charter. The event will also feature small moderated group discussions on topics such as anti-discrimination and employee co-determination.
Marlene Gohl from the Anne Frank Educational Center e.V. will open the event with her lecture 'Courage for Democracy - Together for Diversity and Cohesion'.
The 'Showing Attitude' event series is an opportunity for participants to learn how to stand up for democratic values in the workplace. With the support of the Charta der Vielfalt, the event aims to foster a respectful and prejudice-free work environment. All are welcome to attend and participate in the discussions and workshops.
