Unveil a Transparency Crusade in Defense Sector:Key to Industrial Advancement Lies in Communication Evolution

Wiesbaden - The public in Germany supports a shift in the nation's security policy, albeit with a demand for increased transparency and involvement, according to a survey by Civey on behalf of communications consultancy Fink & Fuchs AG.

Nearly 81% of respondents expressed the need for clear information on how planned investments in security and defense will be allocated, while two-thirds (68.7%) desire more details on which companies might benefit the most from public spending. The survey results suggest that while Germans are open to increasing defense spending, they expect to understand who stands to profit from such investments.

With the potential for one trillion euros in defense capabilities investments from the federal government over the next decade, the population's views regarding defense spending have shifted positively, with 38.5% now viewing it more favorably than a year ago. Nevertheless, clarity in decision-making processes is crucial, as over 80% support the commissioning of German or European providers for defense contracts, with only 2.4% satisfied with US companies receiving such orders.

Alexandra Groß, CEO of Fink & Fuchs AG, emphasizes that effective communication is essential in ensuring the success of this historic security policy shift, particularly for companies in the defense-tech industry. Communication can not only help foster trust but also reshape the industry's role as a key sector in the economy and society.

Transparency and trust are crucial to long-term support for significant defense spending. The public will continue to back the defense budget if they recognize its necessity and can trace its allocation. However, the skeptical attitudes towards defense and the Bundeswehr in recent decades necessitate careful management to avoid renewed skepticism if informational needs are overlooked and the public remains excluded from this change in Germany's security infrastructure.

This information need not only poses a challenge to the defense-tech industry but also presents opportunities for success. Transparent communication can enhance trust, proactively shape reputation, explain complex technologies, attract talent, and strengthen C-level communication.

Germany and Europe must rethink their security approaches as the old assumptions no longer apply. To gain genuine support and prevent increasing skepticism, a new quality of communication is required to counter populism, misinformation, and societal polarization.
