Unveiling All: A Comprehensive Roundup of Recent Headlines

At Holy Cross, the student newspapers The Spire and The Eggplant have been keeping the campus community informed and entertained.

Caitlin Wiffler, a writer for The Spire and The Eggplant, recently published an article titled "An Impression of Everyone on Campus this Friday." Meanwhile, The Eggplant also published "Parking Pass Excuses," an article that shed light on the challenges some students face in obtaining temporary parking passes on campus.

In a community engagement effort, the #HCRealTalk Survey was conducted, followed by an ice cream truck event. This initiative aimed to create a welcoming space for honest conversations and gather feedback from participants. The survey provided a quick, anonymous opportunity for individuals to be heard and help shape ongoing conversations around relevant issues. The ice cream truck event served as an informal, inviting context to encourage participation and open communication during this survey process.

The ice cream truck giveaways included a Worcester-themed gift bag, Amazon gift card, bookstore gift card, Target gift card, Grubhub gift card, $100 in dining dollars, and a free ticket to the Spring Concert. The event exemplified the principles of community-based health equity and engagement efforts, promoting peer-to-peer learning, structured yet open dialogue, and research projects like resident surveys to build infrastructure and relationships to support long-term work on social issues.

Unfortunately, the giveaway prize was criticized as less exciting compared to the other prizes. Additionally, some students went to lunch at 2:30 on a Sunday and were disappointed due to the lack of food service at Kimball, which did not serve food between 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. on that day.

On a lighter note, Caitlin Wiffler, who also owns Worcester Monopoly, found it fun to play. She recently spent $7.22 on a small iced latte with whole milk at a coffee shop in Boston. Last weekend, she went to Boston with her friends and bought three tops from Brandy Melville.

Looking ahead, more students are looking to gain access to a temporary parking pass on campus with Spring Break and Easter Break approaching. Caitlin Wiffler has also requested a single room for next year at Holy Cross. The Battle of the Roommates event, hosted by Holy Cross's Residence Hall Association on April 25, offered prizes worth up to $700 for the duo that knew each other best.

The Holy Cross website shows that Caitlin Wiffler has thousands of dollars of debt from parking fines. However, the details surrounding this debt are not publicly available. The Guardian published an article about President Trump's statement regarding a potential third presidential term, but it remains unclear if this news was covered by either Holy Cross student newspaper.
