Unveiling at The Crow's Nest, January 4, 2023:

Park University Secures Major Grant for Healthcare Education Program

Park University has received a significant boost in its mission to provide accessible education and training for adult learners aiming to enter high-demand healthcare careers. The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD) awarded the university a $999,508 grant as part of the Private MoExcels programme, funded via the American Rescue Plan Act.

The grant will be used to establish or expand education and training programmes at Park University, with a focus on creating pathways for adult learners to transition into critical healthcare occupations. This initiative supports Missouri's broader effort to address economic and public health challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic disruption.

The Private MoExcels grant program extends funding previously allocated to public institutions, now including accredited private, non-profit colleges like Park University, to develop employer-driven education and training initiatives. These programmes prioritise occupations that are in high demand, especially those related to pandemic response and evolving healthcare needs, addressing workforce shortages and economic disparities exacerbated by COVID-19.

The grant supports program expansion to increase access and opportunities for adult learners moving into these vital career paths. The funds will be used to scale up Park University's new certified medical assistant program, support research and development, outreach and recruitment efforts, student support services, professional and curriculum development, and facilities and equipment.
