Park University in the Spotlight: Scholarships, Events, and Achievements

Park University is bustling with activity as the 2024-25 academic year approaches. The Faculty Center for Innovation has announced its scholarship and teaching fellows for the upcoming year, marking a new chapter for the institution.

In other news, the Park University International Center for Music's Stanislav and Friends Benefactor Party was featured in The Independent, Kansas City's journal of society. The event was a grand affair, filled with music and camaraderie.

The University has a series of upcoming events lined up, including the Malmstrom Air Force Base (Mont.) Campus Commencement, the Cherry Point (N.C.) Marine Corps Air Station Campus Commencement Ceremony, and the Beaufort (S.C.) Marine Corps Air Station Campus Commencement Ceremony. These are just a few of the many events that will take place at Park University in the coming months.

Academically, Park University faculty members have been making strides. Susan Keim, Ph.D., associate professor of public administration, presented "Preparing Public Servants in Technology and Business Analytics" at the American Society for Public Administration's annual conference. Meanwhile, John Cigas, Ph.D., and Wen Hsin, Ph.D. presented at the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Central Plains Region. Hsin also published a paper on "The Effect of ChatGPT: Student Perspective and Performance Achievement" in the April edition of the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges.

In athletics, the Park University baseball and softball teams have been excelling. Four players from the Park-Gilbert Campus earned first team honors in the California Pacific Conference. The women's beach volleyball team was featured on KMBC-TV in Kansas City in advance of the NAIA National Invitational Tournament.

Park University's students and faculty have also been recognized for their achievements. Stephanie Bowerson, '15, was honored with an Excellence in Education Award from the Michigan Lottery. The Outstanding Parkite Award, the most prestigious honor at Park University, was given to seniors Annastasia Bair and Skyler Jensen. Joao Friedrich, senior outside hitter for Park University's men's volleyball team, was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 2024 NAIA All-America first team.

The University's annual Honors Convocation was held on April 17, recognizing exceptional scholarly efforts from the 2023-24 academic year. The 29th annual Dr. Doris A. Howell Leadership Awards were also announced, recognizing leadership achievements of Park University students, faculty, and staff during the 2023-24 academic year.

In addition to these accomplishments, Park University has been ranked No. 4 on Forbes Advisor's list of "Best Project Management Certificates Online of 2024." The Park University women's beach volleyball team was also featured on KMBC-TV in Kansas City.
